I Wood Call It Circuit Training
My lovely Sweet Roast doesn’t like the way she looks. Without giving away so many details that she’ll lock me out of the house, let’s just say she’s put on a few ounces. Most of this resulted in what can only be described as inactivity. But, we both know it, so we recognize the cause – or at least a contributing factor. And lately she’s gotten to the point where enough is enough and she’s taking action. In addition to a weekly yoga class, Sweet Roast has devised a very simple plan of attack on her non-yoga days. We have a pretty good collection of lumber in the yard. It’s heavy, rough-cut lumber in various sizes and lengths. She has told me, and others, that she was in the best shape of her life when she worked on a ranch about 15 years ago. She lifted things like bales of hay and changed irrigation pipes frequently. I first set eyes on her at about that time and I must say, she was buff. She had arms on her that were toned and she had a flat belly. In a word (or two) she was a hottie. She still is, as far as I’m concerned, but I get what she means about wanting to get back to where she felt better about herself and was full of energy and motivation. Here’s where the pile of lumber fits in. Sweet Roast announced to me one day that she wanted to move the pile to a different location in the yard. I thought it was a good idea. But I only caught Part One. She intends to move it somewhere else after moving it all to location #2. Then, once it’s all at location #2 she plans to move it all to a third location. Once that is complete, the plan is to move the lumber back to the original location then repeat the process. She may take a few days per move, but the lumber will most definitely be seeing more of the yard than I will this season. Call it old school circuit training if you want, but I think it’s a great idea. It’ll get her started on her way back to physical fitness. It’s an attainable goal. It’s easily accessible and she’ll be able to easily track her progress with a visual scan of the yard. In fact, I think it’s a brilliant plan. And most of the lumber is already at its second location!
