Slow And Steady Wins The Race
When I decided to work on the project I have titled, “From Love Chunk To Love Hunk” I knew it would take a while to achieve the many goals I would set for myself. My reasoning was that it took a number of years to get out of shape, so it should take some time to get back into shape. From what I have read, and people I have consulted with over the years that train of thought seems to be the most logical and successful. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t believe in diets or any other method that promises quick results. Sure, there will be measurable results for some, but I’m looking to keep it off long-term and I have set the goal of roughly two years to get into the shape I plan to be in for the rest of my life. So I’ve been walking to work in the morning. It may not sound like much, but it’s a start. I’ve made the trip more than once in a day on occasion and since it is only slightly more than a ten-minute brisk walk one way; it’s no big deal. Well, whatever I’ve been doing has inspired the Sweet Roast a little more as she has been pointing out to me her weight gain frequently in the past week. Personally, I think she looks fine, but I know she’s not the tall, slender babe I fell in love with so many years ago. Nor am I the same tall, hunky guy I was then. However, my efforts have already paid off as Sweet Roast suggested she needed to get out and walk some more herself. I believe her words were “I hate the way I look” or something to that affect, so we went for a Sunday morning walk. It’s the middle of winter where we live, so the temperature was about -10C. Our neighbourhood happens to contain a paved stretch of the Trans-Canada Trail, which passed by the front of our home about 200-feet from our front door, so we walked a section of the trail and then came back, did a loop around our block and got home just about an hour after we left. If I can get Sweet Roast to do this once a week, it’ll get her started on the same journey I’m on, which will benefit the both of us in many ways.
