There’s Something Going Yawn Around Here

You’ve heard the old saying “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise” well, there’s some truth to part of it. The sleeping part anyway. The rest of it, well, should be rewritten to say “Early to bed, early to rise only works for some of the guys” or “helps with the disguise” or “puts rings under your eyes” or whatever works. I’ve read time and time again that anywhere between seven and eight hours sleep is enough for the average person. Sleep is important. Not only does it allow you to recharge your battery for the next day, it forces you to relax and shutdown for a break. My alarm clock goes off every morning at 6:45 AM. That’s seven days a week. I’m in the office normally between 7:30 and 7:45 AM. I find I get a lot done first thing in the morning, especially if I’ve had a good night’s sleep. When do I go to bed? Normally between 11:00 and 11:30 PM which gives me between seven and eight hours sleep. Right now it’s 9:30 PM and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open, but I’ll get to 11:30 PM regardless because I know, with few exceptions, if I get too much sleep I’m a slug the next day. It’s just something I’ve been able to determine about myself. The path to health includes a good night’s sleep and not just one or two of them a month, but many of them, hopefully in a row. I find I have a great deal of creative energy all day long and credit my sleeping pattern (and the odd cup of coffee) for it. I also put in an average of nine and a half hours a day in the office so I need that energy to carry me through. Sure, my job basically amounts to me sitting in front of a computer most of the time, but without a good night’s sleep my brain would log off long before the computer and I’d get less and less done each day. Good thing I own my own business or I’d have to fire myself when productivity levels take a dive. Now if I were ever able to clone myself I’d get a whole lot more done because I know the original is quite productive. Mind you, if I’m going to be doing any cloning, the clones will have to be about 25 pounds lighter than the original in order to meet my high standards and pass quality control specifications.

You need to come out and run on the beach with me around 500a or 530a. Full of energy the rest of the day!
