I’ve mentioned before how stress can affect one’s health and I’m going to share a little tip that I’ve recently adopted. So far, it’s kept my stress level down. Sweet Roast mentioned to me one day that God only gives us as much as well can handle. I’ve heard that very same comment a few times since and regardless of whether or not you believe in Him; you’ve got to admit it makes a lot of sense. We aren’t designed to take a lot of stress. If you look at our skeletal structure alone, although the human body is an amazingly well engineered specimen, put too much pressure, strain or stress on a bone or joint and when it’s had enough it starts to break down. Depending on the amount of pressure and the pressure point it could translate into a sprain, dislocation or more serious damage like a break. The same goes for your mind. You can only take so much. The season right after Christmas is the toughest for us as business slows down quite a bit but bills still need to be paid. I did wise up late last year and pre-paid and over paid a number of bills when the cash flow was good to prevent myself from getting too stressed out. I haven’t lost much sleep this slow season and far less than I did the year before. I like to think God’s only giving me as much as I can handle this year and even if that’s not the case, I’m not twisting myself out of shape over cash flow. Since it’s a proven fact that the health of one’s body, mind and soul affects overall fitness, I’m going to stay as stress-free or low-stress and I can. And that’s something I know I can handle with relative ease.
